[Sound] sndconfig crash

I was installing my sound card using the instructions in the
Red Hat Linux 7 for Dummies book
I have a Yamaha YMF724 Sound Card

I have SNDCONFIG Version 0.57

THe only instructions I found that differed from the book
was a waring screen, telling me that SNDCONFIG should not be used
inside of XWindows. I continued, since the book did not cover this.

The program announced that it would play a sample file, and I clicked OK

The bordars of the screen and the color of the screen remained the same, but 
there was no COnfirmation box
("Did you hear the sound?" (yes)  (no) )
As the book said there would be.
