When doing so, I get the following messages durinbg startup:

Actually, I get these errors every time I start up now, also if I revert to
my 'alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0' setting.

I tried aplay that came with the alsa download and got this error in the
console:
$ aplay /home/joachim/128.wav
Playing WAVE '/home/joachim/128.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate
44100 Hz, Stereo
aplay: pcm_write:1000: write error: Input/output error
I would like to use xmms to play my music. But it's not listed on
alsa-project.org. Can I use xmms with alsa or do I have to find another? (I
need good command line control of the program).
