The i810 hardware only supports certain audio formats. CPU is cheap
nowdays and silicon less so.

KDE has a sound server to share the audio stuff

KDE grabbed the audio for a bit. It expects (as actually do all the
GUI desktop tools) that people will share the audio politely. Play
doesnt
Use "artsplay" and it'll play it through the polite helpers
