what versions of oracle rpms do you have installed?
# rpm -qa 'oracle*' | sort
% My server now has 11g client libs in /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client64/lib
% along with the 10g libs in
% /opt/oracle/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/xe/lib. The oracle start scripts
I guess your Oracle XE is not installed from rpm but manually from
tar/zip, right?
% is all confused now and fails to start and stop the database. Has

% it finds the correct sqlplus binary in the /opt/oracle.. directory but
