I installed 2.9.5AS by booting on a CD-ROM (image boot.iso)

Yes, especially if the machine will pxeboot.

I was wondering if it was possible to avoid this CD-ROM and
configure a bootp/dhpcp server instead? If this is possible,
what boot image should the server send.

In the images/pxe directory of the first cd there is a kernel and initrd.img
there that can be used for booting the machine via pxeboot amd pxelinux.

The easiest way to set it up is to use a linux dhcp server and the tftp server
that comes with recent releases of RHL.

HTH,

The problem is, there is no images/pxeboot directory in the ia64 distribution. Does is mean it is not possible or is there a way to do it using some type of EFI boot loader?

AAH sorry I have only tested x86. I seem to remember something going by about
doing this with some type of EFI boot loader but I do not remember where. Sorry.

I finally got it working by following the directions in "netbooting.txt" of the elilo package.

Thanks.
