This shoulld be inside of user.js or prefs.js files:

user_pref("general.useragent.override", "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i386; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624";) 

Modify as you like or comment the line with "//" :)

I went ahead and started running 1.4 from mozilla.org and on certain web pages (www.infoworld.com as an example) I have been experiencing lockups, I have a Matrox G450 card and I have downloaded their drivers for X 4.3.0 but it still locks.  I was also getting this behavior on RH9 however 8.0 was fine, any ideas?
