I did a KDE install.
My panel has an icon for Mozilla, butMozilla's not installed. To find a
working email client, I have to kick the hat, meander up to Internet/More
internet then choose kmail. The onlu other emailclient I've discovered is
mail: it has its ppace, but its place is not typing mail;-(.
My web browser is Konqueror, but since it's the only one installed it should
have an icon on the panel
Iv you're going to put KDE or GNOME on a server (not a debate for today), then
vnc-server makes good sense too. That way, you can make use of the desktop on
a headless box, or do what I am and run several desktops at once. I'm
currently viewing thise one in a 11" diagonal window on my Sun monitor.
It's especially nice that you can access it with any Java-capable web
browser;-)..
The Internet selection's hilarious;-) Mozilla (not installed) and More
Internet.
Programming has an even more economical selection: More programming tools.
There's also the question of burning CDs. CDs and DVDs are handy backup media
for small office servers. However, cdrecord is not in either ES beta, and
dvdrecord is only in ws.
i would like to see one or both in both. There's a lot of stuff in AS I'd not
put on my server: I could contemplate installing scanning software, but
gphoto on a server?
This is not a misfeature: it's nice to see something a bitlike glint back at
last.
