For many, WS is ample, but at $179 pa (it's clearly under the heading "Annual
Subscription Pricing and Availability," plus RHEN, or even without the RHEN
subscription, it's a pretty hard sell against Windows for uncertain
compatibility with "all those other PC users."

Those compatibility concerns are well-founded - a couple of weeks ago my bank
told me I can't use its Internet banking facility unless I run Windows or
(maybe) MacOS.

Now, those prices at http://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/purchase/ might seem
awfully cheap if you bought a maxed-out X440, or a pSeries or iSeries or
zSeries computer from IBM or equivalent from HP, Sun etc, but for many PC
users those prices exceed the cost of the hardware it's likely to run on.
