Hangs over nfs?

The only reproducible problem I have run into is that GNOME applications
that open documents will sometimes hang in a futex mode. Most of the
traces go through gnome-ui libraries before hanging. It might be NFS
related as my home directory is mounted via NFS and the files I have
tried to open are outside of NFS. Programs I have reliably reproduced it
in are DIA and evolution.
