the last samba version which works is 3.0.2
the mount works, but all access file with 'permissioon denied'
reverting to samba 3.0.2 immediately solved the problem.
Has anyone successfully accessed windows shares with samba 3.0.7 ?
This sounds similar to a problem I had with accessing Samba shares from
Fedora using smbmount. Apparently recent versions of smbmount will try
to map usernames and groups rather than (necessarily) observing the UID
and GID parameters to smbmount. Adding local users and groups that
match those on the server fixed my problem. You should be able to check
if this is happening to you by doing a ls -l and looking for numeric
(and therefore unknown) users and groups.
Hope this helps.
