/sbin/new-kernel-pkg is run in %post. I don't know that much about the
rpm database locking, but if the custom script wants to install
another package (through rpm/yum/etc.) and in %post the database is
still locked, the script will fail. OTOH, the documentation that I
found on triggers doesn't specify anything about database locking, so
it might be that this is also not possible...
