Hi,

I'm about to receive a number of new servers built upon Intels' new serverboard (Jarrell SE7520JR2), and would like to hear recommendations for good raid controllers. We only use raid 1.

A good raidcontroller would mean:
	1. mature driver
	2. commandline based management (primarily for checking raid status)
	3. Supported in RHEL3

I've got a choice between

1. Adaptec SCSI RAID Card 2130SLP
http://raid.adaptec.com/ASR-2130S.html

or

2. Intel SRCZCRX SCSI RAID, 128 MB, Zero Channel
http://cache-www-o.intel.com/cd/00/00/18/33/183364_183364.pdf

I'm not keen on the Intel controller, as very few people seems to use it and intels driver support is not the best. The adaptec seems to have better driver support, but I'm unsure about how stable their driver is and especially if I can monitor raid status from scripts.

The older Adaptec boards who used the dpt_i2o driver had excellent performance and good management utilities, but the utilities doesn't work on recent Adaptec controllers.

Has anyone got experience with the above controllers, or other recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I run an Adaptec 2200S in Raid 1. Runs very well, and the monitoring
utilities from adaptec work great too.. And the performance is also very
good.

Can you monitor the raid status from commandline utilities so it's easy to fit into Nagios or simialr ?

We haven't got X or similar installed on our servers.
