Ever since the upgrade to U4, I have not been able to connect to RHN. Is
this possibly related to the bind issue, or something else? TIA.

First, you need not be running "bind" in order to connect to the RHN.
Your system need only be able to connect to xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com
(resolving that properly) via https. You could use something like
"ethereal" to see what is happening to the connection when you start the
rhn applet.
Now, all that said, my systems used to have no trouble to connect and
get updates. But today, while the "check mark" is being displayed it
says "Checking RHN for updates..." when I mouse over it.
Starting the applet again gives me a status of:
rhn_utils.rhnAppletRPCFault: Server Communication Error -140:
Error Message:
Your system was not found in the RHN database
Error Class Code: 140
Error Class Info: Unable to look up server
I get the feeling RHN is has issues.... Running up2date by itself is
working OK for me.
