My suggestion is to try both.  Whichever patches and compiles the
cleanest, go with it.  I highly doubt RHEL will ever ship with this patch.
 It's not real common for Enterprise Class Operating Systems to support
known failed hardware.  It'd make the troubleshooting/support somewhat
difficult.
