Re: MySQL and PHP - What are you using?

For my stuff, I can't use the RH packages. In fact, they're just about the only software distributions I custom compile.

PHP crashes on me with certain forms of malformed data (fixed in PHP-4.3.3), and I need MySQL-4.0 for a number of reasons, such as the query cache.

I use stock everything else, including Apache, but try as I might, I can't get the functionality and performance out of the stock packages.

Having said that, unless you have a very good reason, I'd stick with the supplied packages. It's a lot more work for me to keep all our systems up-to-date with PHP & MySQL, I wish I didn't have to do it.

I am trying to figure out if most people are sticking to what is
distributed with the Enterprise CDs or are they getting the latest
versions and installing them? If you are, are you rolling your own rpms
or are you getting the rpms from somewhere else, "Where?", or are you
compiling? Thanks for the help in advance.
