I've seen that also, with older 3C905
cards and RHEL 3.0.
Usually a Shutdown and Startup, not
merely a reboot cures it.
So, my guess it has to do with the io_ctl
& the network card driver, especially, as it is related to an interrupt.
Try using a different, slightlyh newer
card.
