I have just received a delivery of a dual opteron 248 box with 16GB memory.
The system is prebuilt with RHEL 3 on an internal 250GB IDE disk.
It has three partitions a: /boot 20MB, b: swap 32GB and c: 240GB /
I would like to shrink the hdc using parted but hit the same problem
using the RHEL 3-2 and FC2 installation CDs.
Having booted off the rescue mode, parted resize command fails with the
message:
"No implementation. This ext2 filesystem has a rather strange layout.
Parted can't resize this (yet)."
The parted Print command reveals:
Disk geometry for /dev/hda: 0.000-238418.579 megabytes
Minor Start End Type FS Flags
1 0.031 125.507 primary ext3 boot
2 125.508 32122.155 primary linux-swap
3 32122.155 238402.089 primary ext3
I don't anything unusual about this.
So could it be parted not supporting resizing in general, or just specific
to my ext3 file system on a 200GB partition?
