RE: parted under RHEL and FC2 - does it work?



Thanks, Ivan, for the pointing to the discussions and the bugzilla report.

I start wondering whether this fault will ever be dealt with since it was
raised under RH 9.  I thought RH EL is a properly supported platform.

If you do mke2fs -O sparse_super and have a large enough partition (several
GB) on any recent Linux, it'll fail with the same message. Currently, the
sparse_super feature is turned on by default (unless mke2fs is run on a
system with a pre-2.2 Linux kernel). It seems like any ext2/ext3 filesystems
created during the installation procedure of recent RedHat/Fedora Linux
versions cannot be resized using parted.
