Just for the record, I wanted to point out that this is not an official
BNL kernel, but just my own patch; and that the content is originally Con
Kolivas and Yue Shi Lai.
With this patch, xmms doesn't skip at all, but it seems latency gets
introduced in other places -- for instance, when starting mozilla's mail,
the system is practically unusable for more than a few seconds while it is
doing i/o.
