What happened to....

We have recently upgraded our systems from Red Hat 9 to RHEL 3. In the
process we have shut down our remaining Compaq Tru64 Unix (Alpha) systems.
Our users are now complaining that the following programs are missing:
gv
gnumeric
AbiWord
vacation(1)
calendar(1)
There are probably others that they either haven't found or haven't yet
told us about.
We've directed "gv" users to "ggv" but the performance of this program is
terrible over a network connection (e.g. to an X terminal). The "gv"
program was snappy, and our users say was easier to use that "ggv".
I tried to install "gnumeric" from source but there were too many missing
dependencies to make this work. The "vacation(1)" program compiles but
fails to run, I think due to a problem with the underlying database
libraries that it uses. The "calendar(1)" fails to compile. I haven't
tried to install AbiWord--the preceding failures were too discouraging.
Is there any work on getting the above applications/utilities into Red Hat
Linux Enterprise?
Thanks,
Carl
