RE: Kernel panic on WS 3.0 running java process



So they said and recommended us to install that instead. We did and the net result was that 3 out of three applications froze after about 2 - 4 minutes (didn't even respond to SIGQUIT and therefore didn't give us any heap trace)... This got better once we installed update-2 that cured the freeze'ing but the performance of the applications was less than 30 % of what we got from SUN's JVM and quite frankly below what we can accept.

It seems though that the problem goes away if we run SUN's JVM in client mode instead of server mode (at least it hasn't happened yet) so maybe we have a acceptable workaround for now.

We are still a bit confused over how a faulty JVM can bring the system to a dead halt, IMHO the application should go, NOT the entire server...

IMHO, Red Hat won't provide support for SUN's Java because it's not
coming with RHEL.
