Re: Oracle 8i on RHEL3 ?



Have you seen the kludge to get 9i installed on RHEL 3?  I imagine using
the same kludge could get 8i installed, but Oracle won't support you. 
They'll only support 9i and 10g on RHEL 3.

You have to install the compat gcc 2.96, then rename gcc to gcc-3.2 and
rename gcc2.96 to gcc to get 9i installed.  We ended up doing this on
one machine and making RPMs for installation on the rest of our
machines.

You'd need to ask your Oracle tech support for the document on how to
get 9i installed on RHEL 3.  That should give you some tips.
