Yep... updating SysVinit did the job, after that it works!
Then I had another problem (bugzilla's old bug #107180) and that
appeared to need a newer kbd.
Also, kudzu took *long* in rhgb on my laptop (but not in text mode)
and it appeared that I also needed a new kudzu to solve that (also
found this in bugzilla).
I think the version requirements of initscripts (that one I knew
myself ;-)), SysVinit, kbd and kudzu should have been "required"
by the rhgb package.
Anyway, thanks, all solved now.
