We've been impatient (samba-3.0.2-6.3E happened to be a lame version),
so we built rpms from the samba-3.0.4-1 source on our ES 3 U2.
Here are the excerpts from our samba.spec:
/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/samba-3.0.4/packaging/RedHat/samba.spec:
CFLAGS="$RPM_OPT_FLAGS $EXTRA" ./configure \
--prefix=%{prefix} \
--localstatedir=/var \
--with-configdir=/etc/samba \
--with-privatedir=/etc/samba \
--with-fhs \
--with-quotas \
--with-smbmount \
--with-pam \
--with-pam_smbpass \
--with-syslog \
--with-utmp \
--with-sambabook=%{prefix}/share/swat/using_samba \
--with-swatdir=%{prefix}/share/swat \
--with-libsmbclient \
--with-acl-support \
--with-vfs \
--with-mmap
