I asked a couple of days ago what the "best" RH kernel/version would be for a dual Opteron w/ 8GB. The consensus was an x86_64 version. I got RHEL x86_64 and tried to load it - no go, it hung when attempting to load the megaraid module. On a hunch I pulled 6GB of RAM and the machine loaded fine. After the install finished I put the memory back in and it wouldn't boot. I started hunting around Google and Bugzilla and I found something which unfortunately appears to be relevant: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=118432 Has anyone else seen this problem or have any other ideas or suggestions? FWIW, the machine came pre-loaded with SUSE 9.1 Pro and was appeared to be running w/ 8GB (not sure about x86_64) and was using a megaraid module. While we don't run that particular distribution here if it is my only choice I'll use it to finish our evaluation.
