Up2date is fine but if you want to test the upgrade you may do the following:

* Copy all the rpms from the binary CDs to one directory (except for
the kernel packages): i.e.

/rpms-upgrade/

* On the directory where the rpms are, issue the command:

rpm -Fvh *.rpm

* Copy all the kernel packages in a separate directory:

i.e. /kernel-rpms/

* On the directory where the kernel rpms are, issue the command:

rpm -ivh *.rpm
