Well, it seems that the author of the original bug report says that
kernel panics also occur in other servers he has upgraded to
2.4.21-20, where there are NO addional binary modules used.
At least one other member of this mailing list has reported kernel
panics with the U3 kernel on Xeon systems as well.
It would be reassuring to know that Redhat takes this serious instead
of blaming the problem back onto the users.
Closing the bugzilla with a generic 'duplicate case' is not helpful, and
not reassuring.
