I am not going to discount Sun's ability. I do not think it that unlikely
Sun having known their performance sucked on the type of
hardware most people want, worked hard to improve Solaris10 performance on
the new x86 machines they now sell.
I am more interested in how Solaris 10 will compare to RHEL4 personally.
