How to: up2date -u. You may need to run it again with a --force on the
kernel packages since by default they're excluded.
Is it necessary: There are security updates in U3. If your system is
in a 100% trusted environment (ie in your house without a network
connection) and you don't need any of the new features or bug fixes that
are also in U3, then it's not necessary. Otherwise, you should go ahead
and install the updates.
