Sendmail - smart_host not working?

Hi,

This is probably a simple question to answer, but I'm stuck. I've
search, but no luck.

I have a RHEL 3 ES server. I need to set this server up so when a
program on the server wants to send email, it is forwarded to our mail
gateway (the only computer allowed to send out email). I thought it was
as easy as defining the

dnl define(`SMART_HOST',`smtp.relay.host')dnl

Line, and I entered the IP address of the mail gateway, then I ran

make -C /etc/mail

and restartet sendmail.

I still did not recieve the testmail(s) I tried to send from CLI.

Any suggestions?
