Hi.
The solution to my problem was quite simple in the end. I only had to create the /etc/mail/service.switch file with the following content:
hosts files aliases files
This way, sendmail doesn't try to resolve the email addresses using the DNS, so I don't even need to configure the DNS client.
Tu sum up, I had to take the following steps:
- Include the ip of the mailhost in the /etc/hosts file. - Edit the /etc/mail/sendmail.mc file, modify the SMART_HOST line and create the new sendmail.cf. - Edit the /etc/mail/submit.mc file, modify the last line, and create the new submit.cf . - Create the /etc/mail/service.switch file. - Restart sendmail.
I hope this helps other people with the same problem.
