Each year, the Software & Information Industry Assocation (SIIA) holds its CODiE™ Awards program to recognize excellence in the business software, digital content and education technology industries. This year, SIIA hosted its 26th annual awards program, gathering 425 nominations from around the world. We’re excited to announce that Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 is one of three finalists in the Best Use of Open Source Technology category in the 2011 CODiE™ Awards program.

Through a rigorous peer-review process, subject matter experts in the content, education technology, and business software industries score nominated products based on industry-accepted criteria to establish finalists for the CODiE™ Awards. Finalists are selected and then considered by the members of SIIA through a voting process, and software category winners are announced at the SIIA event All About the Cloud, May 23-26 in San Francisco.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 was delivered to Red Hat customers in March 2010, adding features designed to operate across physical, virtual and cloud deployments. It offered enhanced virtualization and interoperability capabilities, combined with support for important new hardware platforms. Since the delivery of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5, Red Hat has updated the overall Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 platform with a sixth update and has also introduced the next-generation Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 platform, which are available to all Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscribers.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux was also honored as a category winner in the SIIA’s 23rd annual CODiE™ Awards program in 2008.
