Camden Council Improves Customer Experience with JBoss Enterprise Data Services

Camden Council Reduced Costs by 80% and Cut Wait Time By Two-Thirds with help from Red Hat Consulting

LONDON

Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Camden Council in London has implemented JBoss Enterprise Data Services Platform to create a more streamlined citizen data solution. The new platform has helped the Council to enhance its customer service experience and reduced project costs by approximately 80 percent compared to other available solutions.

Camden Council spans an area of 22 km2 of inner London, delivering almost 600 different services to approximately 227,500 residents. Previously the Council had used five different back office systems, forcing teams to log into multiple systems to respond to enquiries. The Council sought to centralize requests into one contact centre for all Planning License and Enforcement (PLE) enquiries. The Council elected to deploy Red Hat's JBoss Enterprise Data Services Platform using integration expertise from Red Hat Consultants to achieve its goals of implementing a more cost-efficient system with long-term viability while reducing maintenance requirements.

Red Hat Consulting worked together with Camden Council to create a solution tailor-made to its business needs. JBoss Enterprise Data Services Platform has helped Camden Council to integrate existing disparate information silos across the council, allowing customer services representatives to interact through a single interface, streamlining the system and enhancing its citizen's experience. The new platform has reduced enquiry time by two-thirds, enhancing the customer experience, as the new system allows the team to rapidly respond to enquiries.

“The knowledge transfer that occurred during our site engagement means my internal team knows more about the technology and how to use it effectively”, said Francois Mounier, integration and development manager, corporate ICT, Camden Council.

The system is designed to offer further expansion potential, allowing Camden Council’s internal development team to make amendments without having to change the underlying data structure. JBoss Enterprise Data Service Platform created a virtual database without the need to move any data, providing a single database connection on which to build business focused applications.

Additionally, Red Hat’s training of the internal team provided a cost-effective solution to future usability issues by creating a wealth of internal knowledge.
