Red Hat Tops CertCities.com List of Hottest Certifications for 2006

Red Hat Certified Engineer honored as the "Hottest Certification for 2006" and "Best Linux/Unix" certification by CertCities.com readers

RALEIGH, N.C.

Red Hat (NASDAQ: RHAT), the world's leading provider of open source to the enterprise, today announced that for the first time, the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) has been awarded the top spot on CertCities.com's "10 Hottest Certifications for 2006." In addition, RHCE was again named "Best Linux/Unix Certification" in the publication's Annual Readers' Choice Awards. Red Hat is the world's largest vendor of open source training and certification by revenue, sales, number of certified professions, courses available and locations served.

CertCities.com's annual "10 Hottest Certifications for 2006" is awarded to the certification programs deemed as “most influential in 2006," based on expectations around growth and demonstrating "the true future of IT certification." Data is culled from the publication's annual readers' survey, combined with qualitative feedback on reputation, value and recognition, and then distilled by the editorial staff to determine the honorees.

"We are extremely honored to have been awarded two very significant distinctions in certification and training. Once again, Red Hat has been honored by CertCities.com and this year we are proud to have been named number one in the industry for our performance based certification. It's one more proof point of the value of open source – and Red Hat – in the enterprise," said Peter Childers, vice president of Global Learning Services at Red Hat. "We're proud of the value that our RHCE certification brings to our global customers and the industry overall."

With more than 53 percent marketshare of all Linux training in North America, Red Hat's flagship certification, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), is consistently named in the top certifications by a host of industry experts. For more information or to enroll, please visit: /training/
