Red Hat Customers Showcase Their Technology Achievements in Fifth Annual Innovation Awards

Award Finalists are Recognized for Forging New Ground for Their Organizations with Red Hat and JBoss Solutions

The award program is designed to recognize the outstanding use, innovation and extension of Red Hat's solutions by customers, partners and the open source community.

The Red Hat and JBoss Innovation Awards finalists are recognized in four separate categories; and a fifth category recognizes a finalist that is deploying a combined solution from Red Hat's platform and middleware portfolios. Today, Red Hat announces the nine leading organizations that are illustrating innovation within their technology programs, and will compete for the Red Hat Innovator of the Year and JBoss Innovator of the Year. These winners will be announced during a special awards ceremony at the Red Hat Summit and JBoss World on May 6, 2011 in Boston.

 

The 2011 Red Hat and JBoss Innovation Awards winners in the following categories include:

 

Optimized Systems

  • Red Hat: Santos Limited, www.santos.com, has been an Australian energy pioneer since 1954, and is one of the country’s leading gas producers with approximately 5,000 staff across its offices and field operations in Australia and Asia. Through the innovative use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and TurboVNC/VirtualGL open source technologies, Santos has reduced the complexity of its UNIX environment. With Red Hat, Santos has experienced a boost in performance, lowered costs significantly, and saved power, all in one open source project.

  • JBoss: SNS Bank, www.snsbank.nl, is one of the top four Dutch financial institutions focusing on banking, mortgages, savings and investment products for retail clients and small and medium enterprises. The company set out to empower its online customers by fully automating its business processes. A strong combination of Red Hat services, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and JBoss jBPM provided the foundation for a successful migration from SNS Bank’s existing business processes, which took place in traditional banking branch offices, to a fully automated, online e-banking experience. Due to this partnership and investment in this new strategy, SNS Bank achieved compelling business results, including a 40 percent decrease in operating costs and 20 percent gain in new customers.

With the launch of EV (Electric Vehicle) to the market, Nissan planned to introduce a new type of system services for supporting this new business.
