The Open Source Forum will include presentations covering the state and trends of open source adoption in the UK and will also feature technical and business break-out sessions delivered by end-user enterprises that have successfully migrated their mission-critical applications and services to open source solutions. The presentations will be specifically tailored for decision makers that are considering the move away from proprietary solutions toward open source solutions by detailing the benefits that open source can bring to their organization’s IT infrastructure.

The event will include presentations from the Open Source Forum Europe, Alfresco, Zimbra, Black Duck Software, Sourcesense, Red Hat and Accenture on the French Ministry of Finance and will also highlight customer speakers from companies including Avis, Eversheds, UFI – Learn Direct and Gyro International. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to network and speak one-on-one with peers and speakers.

“The realisation of the potential for open source is growing in the UK, but there is still room for growth in terms of open source adoption by government and private enterprises”, said Paul Holt, regional director of Red Hat UK, Ireland and Eastern Europe. “Research shows that more education is needed to raise awareness among potential users of open source software, and this is exactly what we’re trying to achieve with the first Open Source Forum. We plan to encourage a lively discussion around open source through real-life examples.”

The Open Source Forum will take place at the One Great George Street conference venue in Westminster, London, SW1P 3AA. Members of the press are welcome to register and attend the event.
