Over the past six years, Red Hat associates have selected a charity to support during the holiday season. While Red Hat does significant charitable work throughout the year, the holiday charity is especially meaningful because Red Hat associates nominate and vote on the winner. This year, Red Hat associates have chosen to support Communities In Schools for our U.S. holiday corporate donation.

More than 30 charities were nominated this season and with more than 500 associates participating in the vote, Communities In Schools was selected as this year’s winner. Red Hat’s generous donation will pay for several hundred children to participate in the program. While Red Hat’s corporate donation this holiday will go to Communities In Schools, Red Hat also matches contributions U.S. associates make to eligible charities through a matching gifts program throughout the year.

Communities In Schools is the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization. Their unique model positions site coordinators inside schools to assess students’ needs and provide resources to help the most vulnerable students succeed in the classroom and in life. Outcomes are very positive – 94 percent of K-11 students in the program are promoted to the next grade, and 93 percent of seniors in the program graduate from high school. Whether it’s food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance or a positive role model, Communities In Schools is there to help.

On behalf of all Red Hat associates, Red Hat is proud to support the incredible efforts of Communities In Schools and thank them for their tireless work on behalf of vulnerable students.
