The Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) programme is named by CertCities as one of the "10 hottest certifications in IT" - the only Linux training programme to rank alongside other mainstream IT administrator certifications such as those from Cisco, Citrix, Microsoft, Oracle and Sun. The high-level programme tests hands-on skills, meaning that RHCEs must pass a performance-based exam that measures actual competencies in Linux systems and network administration on live computer equipment. Since its inception in January 1999, more than 8,500 people have taken the RHCE examination, with over 5,000 successfully being certified. The RHCE programme is the most mature industry-standard Linux certification and the only world-recognised performance-based certification programme for any OS.

"Linux is the fastest growing OS and is rapidly being adopted by enterprises worldwide. Indeed, in the Netherlands we're seeing blue-chip enterprises such as Shell migrate their IT systems over to Red Hat Linux," said Jasmine Huxtable-Wright, EMEA Training and Business Development Manager. "This move of Linux into the enterprise means that now more than ever IT professionals and employers are insisting on high quality and consistent programmes on Linux systems administration, open source applications and development. We're excited to be reinforcing the existing RHCE training offered by our partners in the Netherlands with the opening of this new Red Hat facility. It's real evidence of the commitment Red Hat is making to the Dutch market."
