RED HAT UNVEILS NEXT GENERATION OF GNUPRO DESIGN TOOLS AND SUBSCRIPTION SUPPORT OFFERINGS

Updated GNUPro Toolkit and Support Packages Give Software Developers the Tools Needed to Design the Next Generation of Post PC Appliances and Applications

노스캐롤라이나주 롤리 -

Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the leader in developing, deploying and managing open source solutions, announced today the availability of the latest version of Red Hat GNUPro, the leading compiler/debugger in use by software developers worldwide. The new package combines improved GNUPro Toolkit software with expanded subscription support options and development platform ports, enabling developers to focus on the most important aspect of any project, completing it on time and on budget.

Said Michael Tiemann, Red Hat CTO, "This major release of GNUProToolkit and Support delivers the latest cutting-edge technologies at a time when enterprise developers are looking to effect a consolidation of their UNIX platforms around Red Hat Linux. GNUPro Toolkit is also important to embedded developers who are looking to reach beyond the limits of proprietary RTOS platforms and move to open solutions such as Red Hat Embedded Linux and eCos."

GNUPro Toolkit and Support:

  • Enables enterprise developers to develop application code on legacy UNIX platforms based on GNU/Linux tools. IT organizations can then easily move these applications to Linux as they migrate application development and infrastructure deployment to Linux with the migration and cross platform capabilities of GNUPro.

  • Supports a wide range of desktop (native) development environments, including Red Hat Linux, many versions of Solaris and HP-UX, Windows NT and AIX. Subscriptions for GNUPro Support ensure developers are working with the latest version of GNUPro Toolkit for these desktops, and GNUPro's framework allows users to port applications from one operating system to the next with ease. Specific platform support is as follows: Red Hat Linux 6.x, Solaris 2.5.1, Solaris 2.6, Solaris 2.7 (32-bit systems), Solaris 2.8 (32-bit systems), HP-UX 10.20 (PA 1.1), HP-UX 11.0 (PA 1.1), HP-UX 11.0 (PA 2.0w), Windows NT 4.0, AIX 4.3.3.

  • Is fully featured to support the requirements of embedded developers utilizing high level calls in the C language. Red Hat provides embedded libraries supporting ANSI C. Different versions of GNUPro Toolkit can be used to easily and quickly migrate code from a native development environment to an embedded one, or from one embedded target to another. GNUPro 2001 supports a wide range of embedded architectures, including PowerPC, Hitachi-SH, ARM and StrongARM, Xscale and embedded Pentium. Embedded developers can take advantage of extensive C++ language support, including improved exception handling and extensive template support.
