Intellectual property explained

Mark Webbink, Deputy General Counsel at Red Hat, takes some time out of his busy day to explain the basics of intellectual property rights in the software industry. He compares and contrasts four types of intellectual property: copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets. At Red Hat, Webbink focuses on open source licensing and patent issues and is especially interested in the way that viral and open licensing are changing the face of the software industry and patents in general.
