While Red Hat Enterprise Linux has historically been used to increase overall application performance, many use cases in financial services require more than overall speed - each individual transaction must be completed within a tight window of milliseconds. This session will look at how to achieve this deterministic latency for Red Hat Enterprise Linux based applications. Techniques discussed will include various performance tuning methods for Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 4 and 5, and the benefits of the -rt kernel tree. We will demonstrate business-specific application performance increases from these techniques. The session will provide practical examples and techniques which can be applied in the attendee's environment.
