Jim Whitehurst - President and Chief Executive Officer, Red Hat

Jim Whitehurst was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Red Hat in December 2007.

Whitehurst joined Delta Air Lines in 2002, serving in various roles, most recently as Chief Operating Officer, responsible for Operations, Sales and Customer Service, Network and Revenue Management, Marketing and Corporate Strategy. Prior to joining Delta, Whitehurst served as Vice President and Director of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and held various leadership roles in their Chicago, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Atlanta offices.

A native of Columbus, Ga., Whitehurst graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas, with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Economics. He also attended Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany, holds a general course degree from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Harvard Business School.



Paul Cormier - Executive Vice President and President, Products and Technologies, Red Hat

Cormier leads Red Hat’s technology and products organizations, including engineering, product management and product marketing for Red Hat’s technologies. Cormier joined Red Hat in May 2001 as Executive Vice President, Engineering. Paul Cormier’s leadership and experience in enterprise technology has led to the introduction of Red Hat’s acclaimed line of enterprise products, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Cormier has been instrumental in forging tight partnerships with many leading technology companies.

Prior to coming to Red Hat, he served as senior vice president of research and development at BindView, helping the company achieve market leadership in 2000. Cormier holds a Master of Science in Software Development and Management from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Ed Bugnion - Vice President and CTO, Server Access Virtualization, Cisco Systems, Inc.

Ed Bugnion is the Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at Cisco for the Server Access Virtualization Business Unit.  Bugnion joined Cisco with the acquisition of Nuova Systems, a company that he co-founded in 2005.

Prior to Nuova Systems, Bugnion was the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of VMware, where he served from 1998 until 2005.  Prior to VMware, Bugnion did graduate work at Stanford University in the areas of virtualization, simulation, and computer architecture, and worked at DEC’s Western Research Laboratory.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from ETH Zurich and an master’s degree from Stanford University both in Computer Science.

Brian Stevens - CTO and Vice President, Worldwide Engineering, Red Hat

Brian Stevens joined Red Hat’s senior management team in 2001 and has been critical to the company’s enterprise operating system, storage, and virtualization strategies. As CTO and Vice President, Worldwide Engineering, Stevens has responsibility for Red Hat engineering globally, encompassing Linux, virtualization, middleware, and cloud.

Stevens began his career at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was a developer on the first commercial release of the X Windows System. During his 14 years at Digital, he became a senior member of technical staff, where he was responsible for the architecture and development of the UNIX and clustering product lines. Stevens earned a master’s degree in Computer Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire.

Kristof Kloeckner - Vice President Strategy & Enterprise Initiatives Systems and Software and CTO Cloud Computing, IBM

Kristof Kloeckner, Vice President Strategy & Enterprise Initiatives Systems and Software and CTO Cloud Computing is based in Armonk, New York. In this role, he defines and drives IBM’s cloud technology strategy and integrates the cloud R&D activities across the company.

He was appointed to his present position in February, 2010 and was previously CTO, Enterprise Initiatives and Vice President Cloud Computing Platforms. Before that, he was previously Vice President of Strategy and Technology for Software Group. He has held executive leadership positions in strategy, architecture and development in Germany, the UK and the USA, including Director of the Hursley Laboratory in the United Kingdom. He joined IBM in 1984 as a development engineer in the Boeblingen Development Laboratory in Germany.

Dr. Kloeckner received a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University at Frankfurt, Germany. He is a Fellow of the BCS and of the IEE and an honorary professor at the University of Stuttgart.

Paul Daugherty - Managing Director, Advanced Systems and Technology, Technology Growth Platform, Accenture

Paul Daugherty is Managing Director, Advanced Systems and Technology, Technology Growth Platform at Accenture. In this role, Paul oversees the development and deployment of more than 4,000 technology professionals who work around the globe and across industries implementing complex, leading-edge technology solutions for Accenture’s clients. Paul is also Accenture Chief Technology Architect, in which he is responsible for developing and building Accenture’s pool of deeply skilled, certified technology architects.  His current focus areas include open source, cloud computing, software-as-a-service, custom solutions, mobility, Web, service oriented architecture and business process management.

Paul has previously led Accenture’s Technology business in the Resources operating group, which serves clients in the utilities, energy, natural resources, and chemicals sectors.  Paul has also been instrumental in leading Accenture initiatives in areas such as eCommerce, and more recently, CIO Agenda, which is focused on rapidly growing the architecture and innovation areas of Accenture’s business.

Paul has worked with clients in many industries in areas such as complex systems delivery, infrastructure services, architecture, and IT strategy. Paul has also been involved in selling and delivering large Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and IT Outsourcing (ITO) engagements.

Paul has a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan.  He frequently speaks at conferences on industry and technology issues, and has published articles in a variety of publications.  He is Chairman of the Advisory Board of the New York-based Academy of Information Technology, a non-profit organization that works with high schools to increase IT career opportunities for urban youths.  Paul is based in New York City, and lives in New Jersey with his wife and four children.
