Red Hat Evolves Cloud Offerings with Private Cloud Architecture Course

Red Hat Cloud Architecture course brings skills and state-of-the-art best practices to enable enterprise IT to compete in the cloud era

RALEIGH, N.C -

Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that it has launched a new Red Hat Training course focused on building skills to launch world-class private cloud deployments using Red Hat technology and solutions.  The Red Hat Cloud Architecture course trains participants on a range of skills needed to plan, build and manage private clouds.  It brings together the full suite of Red Hat products, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Red Hat Network Satellite, JBoss Operations Network and Red Hat Enterprise MRG.  Red Hat Cloud Architecture (CL350) is the first published course in Red Hat's cloud curriculum and is expected to be followed this fall by an additional course focused on Red Hat’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) product, Red Hat CloudForms.

With the Red Hat Cloud Architecture training course, organizations working to develop and implement a private cloud strategy will learn how Red Hat's modular and open technology portfolio can be integrated into their cloud architecture.  The two-day course is designed for IT architects who require a detailed understanding of Red Hat cloud capabilities and wish to gain the knowledge needed to select the right components and develop applications for their organization’s private cloud.  Students will participate in a detailed task-oriented, hands-on introduction to IaaS clouds by exploring a private cloud computing reference architecture built with Red Hat solutions.  Throughout the course, students will perform tasks with this private cloud including deploying hypervisor hosts, deploying virtual machines in the cloud and managing the virtual machine lifecycle and resources.  The course targets experienced IT professionals who are responsible for using Red Hat technologies to deploy in the cloud and technical decision-makers seeking a technical overview of Red Hat’s private IaaS cloud reference architecture.

"We've worked closely with Red Hat for many years to provide customers with world-class Red Hat Training offerings covering product areas such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware," said Bret C. Johnson, Global Knowledge Senior Director, Worldwide Partner
Programs. "We've seen great demand for resources and training around cloud computing and Red Hat's new cloud training offering comes at an ideal time to help enterprise customers determine their private cloud strategy."

“We have been investigating building a private cloud infrastructure here at RealtyWEB.NET for some months. It became clear that we needed additional information in order to plan for and build a private/hybrid cloud. We have been looking into the technology as a way to promote up-time, increase flexibility in our infrastructure and enhance our disaster recovery plans,” said Bradley Corner, Information Systems Manager at RealtyWEB.NET. “As an RHCSA, I participated in the pilot course for Red Hat's new Cloud Architecture training offering. I came away with a better understanding of what the Red Hat offering was and how it is structured. The hands-on experience I gained with going through the process of building a private cloud has given me the tools to make an informed decision on my company's entry into cloud computing.”

“One of the primary barriers to adoption of cloud computing is the scarcity of skills,” said Scott Crenshaw, vice president and general manager, Cloud Business at Red Hat.  “For years Red Hat has been helping customers around the world implement clouds, and has developed an extensive set of best practices for the planning, design, implementation and management of clouds.  With this course, we’re sharing the methodologies and best practices we’ve developed, with one goal: making the benefits of cloud a reality for more and more users.”
