Is your data at risk?

If you move data between systems via a public medium, like the Internet, it's exposed to risk. If you don't explicitly secure your data, you can't ensure privacy or integrity.

Everyday activities expose your data to this kind of risk. Accessing your work machine when you're out of the office may risk your documents—or your passwords. Sending email risks the contents of your email, and attaching a document risks that document.

Minimize risk with encryption tools

But you can minimize these risks by using encryption tools to secure your communication medium with a VPN or to encode your documents. You may not be able to eliminate access to your documents, but you can encrypt them so that they are very difficult to read.
