As part of the JBoss® Enterprise Web Platform (JBoss EWP) release process, several open source projects are integrated to form a stable lightweight enterprise Java™ web application platform. They come from the JBoss Community, Apache Software Foundation, and many other open source communities
MoreJBoss Enterprise Web Platform is a subset of the features and functionality provided by JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. Some components may have been added or removed for dependency or compatibility purposes, while other components may be included as technology previews.

The following components and unsupported features have been included for dependency purposes only and are not fully supported for production or development as part of a JBoss EWP subscription:

| JBoss Rules 5 (Drools) | This item is required to implement rule-based security features for JBoss Seam, so the use of this component is only supported within this context. |
| Hypersonic SQL | This component provides default out-of-the-box database functionality for JBoss Enterprise Application Platform for evaluation and development use only. Hypersonic SQL is not recommended or supported for production use. |
| EJB 1.x-2.x & CMP | Legacy EJB standards and container-managed persistence (CMP), a legacy Java persistence implementation, are not supported; as of Java EE 6, these technologies have been removed from the Java EE specification. |
| Remote EJB connectivity | The feature is not included in the Java EE web profile; it is reserved for the full Java EE profile. |
| Non-JDBC RAR deployments | The feature is not included in the Java EE web profile; it is reserved for the full Java EE profile. |
| JTS | Included but not supported as part of a JBoss EWP subscription. |
