Migrating Oracle 10g/11g Environments from Windows Server to RHEL 5

This paper discusses the preparation and tasks required to migrate Oracle version 10g/11g databases from Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Enterprise Servers to Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 5.4. A previous publication in the Red Hat Reference Architecture Series has documented the out of the box performance gain users can realize by switching from Windows 2008 Server Enterprise to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4. This paper will show several ways to perform the migration of an Oracle RDBMS from Windows Server 2008 Enterprise to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4.
