Red Hat Network Technical Requirements

This page outlines the hardware requirements necessary to run Red Hat Network Proxy or Satellite offerings. Please note that there are no requirements to run any of the Modules (Update, Management, or Provisioning) if they are being run in the Hosted environment. Hosted

There are no requirements for this level of service. This is the default level of service for all entitlements if you have not purchased a Proxy or Satellite server.

Proxy

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 AS Premium Edition (included in server purchase)
  • Pentium III processor, 1.26GHz, 512K cache or equivalent
  • Hard Disk Space : 6GB per distribution/channel
  • Memory: 512MB

Satellite Architecture

Recommended

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 AS Premium Edition (included in server purchase)
  • Pentium IV processor, 2.4GHz dual processor, 512K cache or equivalent
  • Hard disk space: 3GB for base install, 6GB per distribution/channel
  • Memory: 4GB
  • Oracle**: More than 4GB tablespace (Oracle and Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS cannot be on the same server if you are running your own Oracle instance. If you are using the embedded Oracle instance, they may be run on the same server.)

Required

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 AS Premium Edition (included in server purchase)

  • Hard disk space: 3GB for base install, 6GB per distribution/channel
  • Memory: 2GB
  • Oracle**: 4GB tablespace (Oracle and Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS cannot be on the same server if you are running your own Oracle instance. If you are using the embedded Oracle instance, they may be run on the same server.)

** An Oracle Database is required to run the Satellite Server. If you do not have an Oracle License, Red Hat can provide an embedded database for use with the Satellite Server. Please contact your sales representative for more details.
