Mobile Makes Your Enterprise Go Boom (The Good or Bad Kind)
Jay Balunas — Mobile Platform Architect, Red Hat
This can be a good boom, or a bad boom. What determines the outcome may be trickier than you think, and enterprises today are burdened (or blessed) with new requirements for their developers and their infrastructures.
In this session, attendees will explore the latest in enterprise mobile development. They will learn how to plan ahead and minimize risk. The discussion will cover options for applications and infrastructures, such as on-premise or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), mobile, web, hybrid, and native, and even integration options for existing services.
Jay Balunas will discuss the Red Hat offerings (e.g., OpenShift by Red Hat, JBoss Developer Studio, etc.) and JBoss Community projects (e.g., AeroGear, Forge, JBoss Application Server, etc.) that can help make mobile development explode (in the good way). He will also walk attendees through a typical enterprise application, discussing backend functionality (that can be accessed across many clients) and host requirements on JBoss Application Server and OpenShift by Red Hat.
And on the client side, attendees will explore AeroGear and its SDKs for iOS, Android, Cordova, and web-based mobile applications.

Adobe Systems, a long-time user of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, wanted to offer its enterprise customers easy access to sandbox resources to evaluate and prototype solutions using Adobe products. Turning to the cloud, Adobe used Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to not only deliver a sandbox solution, but also to offer customers a Software- as-a-Service (SaaS) option for deploying Adobe-based solutions. Today, this solution helps customers simplify deployment, lower cost of ownership, and accelerate time to value.
In this session, Adobe’s Mitch Nelson will detail this solution and discuss standard software deployment models, scaling, BU/DR, and cross-geo replication of AEM/CQ.

Network Virtualization & Software-defined Networking

Enterprise datacenter virtualization and cloud computing have put new pressures on the network. Traditionally, virtual compute workloads gained access to the network through simple hypervisor resident virtual switches bridging to physical VLANs. As these workloads scale in the cloud and move dynamically throughout the datacenter, the limits of a simple VLAN solution are stressed.
In this session, Chris Wright will look at new protocols and encapsulations like OpenFlow and VXLAN, new technologies such as Open vSwitch, and new concepts such as the software-defined network controller. He will examine how these innovations work together to reshape networking in the virtual datacenter.

Birds of a Feather
Cloud Bursting with OpenShift Enterprise

In this birds of a feather session, Grant Shipley will show off some of the magic behind OpenShift Enterprise. He will begin by giving an overview of the product and then he will demo the setup and configuration of OpenShift Enterprise on a local machine. Once we have things running locally, we will burst OpenShift from an on-premise cloud out to multiple datacenters.
Grant will also cover the internal architecture of OpenShift Enterprise, including the messaging tier and all components required for a successful deployment of OpenShift Enterprise.
