After getting the parallel port going, you need to setup a /etc/printcap entry for the local printer. By far the easiest way to do this is with the `printtool` utility. Its use is fairly intuitive.
Once a proper /etc/printcap is setup, you should be able to start lpd locally and print to the printer. If this works, you're almost done.
