My journey into Linux® began when I joined muvee, a Singapore-based company that produces automated video editing software, as an IT engineer in 2005. We mostly use open source software on severs running Red Hat Enterprise Linux, so it is here I saw everything that I used to manage in Windows has an equivalent in Linux. I held MCSE and CCNA credentials, but seeing Linux in action convinced me to change my career focus. I decided to take the de facto standard Linux certification - RHCE® - and have never looked back since then. The experience accelerated my growth in Linux and helped me become the IT infrastructure manager today. In 2007 muvee decided to launch itself into the web arena. A robust infrastructure was to be architected within 3 months to meet business requirements, such as reliability and scalability. With a strong Linux foundation gained in the process of becoming RHCE, I was able to deploy GFS and virtualization to meet all the business goals within the time frame without even going on site!
